Lectures and seminars: up to 22 lecturing lessons; up to 8 seminar lessons; 30 lessons all together

I. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Introduce the students to the fundamental comparative and legal views of the most recent trends in the international business legislature in the Continental and the Anglo-Saxon legal systems and in the Conventional Law.

II. COURSE CONTENT:

  • Contemporary features of comparative international trade law
  • Comparative overall view of legal system in corporate and non-corporate societies in the Continental legislature and the legal systems of GB, USAand Japan.
  • Comparative market system ( providing competition and customers, intellectual property)
  • Comparative law for securities and payments, (bills of exchange, checks, shares and other long-term securities, documented letters of credit, bank guarantees etc.)
  • Fundamental features of “higher forms” of international business: (foreign investments, licensing contracts, contracts, long-term product corporate leasing, franchising, factoring)

III. TEACHING METHODS:

The course will try to give the students new knowledge on the most recent movements in the legal doctrine and introduce the students to scientific research in the field dealt within this course.

VI. COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

The course will be based both on teaching and research. Each student is therefore required to suggest a topic and to defend his/hers set theses in form of a seminar/paper.

VII. KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT AND GRADING SYSTEM:

The final exam is oral and includes the defence of the research seminar/paper.
