Online workshop

The workshop is organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka and the Center for Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics, on Friday 17 December 2021. year from 16:00 to 19:30.

 

Issues of measurement and evaluation of outcomes in health care are essential for assessing the effectiveness of health interventions (medicines, public health interventions, etc.), creating and managing patient registries, developing patient-centered care models, monitoring the success of treatment, decision-making based on on the evidence.

 

The workshop offers an overview of methods and knowledge related to the measurement and evaluation of health outcomes with a special emphasis on patient reported outcomes (PROMS). The participants will get an insight into the methodology and challenges related to the measurement and evaluation of outcomes in healthcare and will try themselves in the application of instruments for measuring and evaluating the outcomes reported by patients.

 

The lecturers at the workshop are prominent experts in the field of measuring and evaluating outcomes,  Ana Jerončić PhD and prof. Valentina Rupel, and the workshop will be led by our assistant professor, Ph.D. Ana Bobinac.

 

Prof. Jerončić is an interdisciplinary scientist and full professor at the Department of Research in Biomedicine and Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Split, with many years of teaching experience in the field of research methodology in biomedicine, biostatistics and medical informatics. She is the statistical editor of Cochrane, an organization whose evidence is considered the gold standard in health technology assessments, a long-time expert of the European Medicines Agency's scientific advice and a member of the Statistical Specialists Network of the EUNetHTA project of the European Commission.

 

Prof. Rupel works as a researcher at the Institute for Economic Research in Ljubljana. In her previous jobs she worked as an advisor to the Minister of Health and as an advisor to the Director General of the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia. As a consultant, she has been involved in projects by international organizations, notably the World Bank and the WHO. Her work is related to health insurance, the organization and financing of healthcare, measurement of health-related quality of life and long-term care. She is a member of the international organizations ISPOR and EuroQol. She works on the development and adaptation of the EQ-5D instrument in the EuroQol organization.
