Abstract:

EN: Trade facilitation plays a crucial role in involving countries in international trade, and international trade has a significant impact on economic growth. After the Second World War and due to the multilateral reduction of tariffs, but the parallel increase in non-tariff barriers, especially in the 1990s, the regional trade agreements intensified. This project explores the impact of international trade on the economic growth of the countries of the former CEFTA (Central European Free Trade Agreement) with a special emphasis on the Republic of Croatia. The econometric modeling will quantify the effects of trade liberalization of former CEFTA members, which became members of the European Union in 2004, 2007 and 2013, on their economic growth, as well as compare the effects between those countries.
