A Welcome Letter from the Management Board

Dear fellow students,

Welcome to the world of higher education.

By choosing the Faculty of Economics and Business from the University of Rijeka, you have become a part of an institution with a longstanding tradition. You will be taught by more than 60 doctors of economic science, who teach and research different fields of economy and follow you through your professional development.

Our programs are developed and taught in cooperation with experts from practice, foreign scientists and students because excellence requires collaboration from all participants. So excellence is what we ask of you too, because you are part of a generation that will have a major role in the transformation of Croatian economy. Decisions you will make and projects you will realize, both during and after your high education, will be founded on theoretical and practical knowledge we will pass onto you.

We adjust our programs regularly, with regard to progress in digital techonology.

The Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka, on Croatian level, is ahead in a whole lot of activities. Competitiveness on the labor market, considering knowledge, skills and capabilities, especially come forth with our students that have finished the course International Business, the first academic undergraduate and graduate studies completely performed in English. Highly educated economists with impressive English language skills are very wanted among Croatian employers, but internationally as well.

International experience of our students, often an indivertible entry in their CV’s, also contributes to their success. An above average number of students go through with a part of their education on one of the international partner faculties, either through the mobility program or at institutions that have signed a cooperation contract with the Faculty.

Dynamic changes in our society encouraged us to take a first step towards ONLINE way of studying that insured our students used their time more efficiently while still getting the same level of knowledge and skills. The starting academic year for this new way of studying was 2015/2016, when the first generation of students enrolled to the ONLINE gradute studies of Entrepreneurship.

The first step towards establishing a career is getting some working experience during your studies. The Faculty collaborates with successful business entities from all over Croatia that enable our students to connect their knowledge with practice. Thanks to memberships in international institutions, our students, in correspondance with their own interests and ambitions, have the possibility to choose multinational companies in which they will gain experience.

Social responsibility is the backbone of our work in the community we are in. We are iniciators of projects that have encouraged positive changes in our society and changed the way of thinking in the world around us. We are the first high education institution in central and eastern Europe that has calculated their carbon footprint, with aim to reduce emission of greenhouse gases and to alleviate climate change. Through this we have paved the way for other business subjects in our area to do the same.

We independently finance scholarships for International Business students from alternative care and through participation in humanitarian actions, we help families and institutions in need.
