The EFRI Sport Association

The EFRI Sport Association is located at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Rijeka, and its members are students and employees of the Faculty. Considering the fact that scientific research confirms that people who participate in sports activities are generally healthier, achieve better academic and professional results, have better developed social skills and are more team-oriented, the mission of EFRI Sport is to promote active sports and sports recreation and to support a healthy lifestyle for students and employees of the Faculty.

EFRI Sport also seeks to promote social interaction among current and Alumni students and staff through sports activities. The association has been active since 2012 and some of the sports EFRI Sport is active in are volleyball, basketball, football, darts, paintball, cycling and badminton. The association has more than 70 members and its members participate in UniSport RI league competitions as representatives of the Faculty of Economics and Business and as members of the team of the University of Rijeka.

The most famous project of the association is the humanitarian EFRI Trail Race, which is organized every year in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Rijeka and the City of Kastav. All interested students and employees of the University of Rijeka and the wider community participate in the race. The first edition of the race was held in December 2018 in the Kastavska šuma, and the funds raised were donated to the Centre for Dialogue Culture - CeKaDe association. In October 2019, over 170 runners and walkers participated in the 2nd humanitarian EFRI Trail Race and all the money collected was donated to the Association for Down Syndrome - Rijeka 21, while in October 2021, over 100 runners and walkers participated in the 3rd humanitarian EFRI Trail Race and funds were collected for the Portić Association and their project "Tete i barbe pričalice”.

In cooperation with HPD Platak, EFRI Sport organized the EFRI Mountaineering School during 2020 and 2021, which consisted of a theoretical part, lessons and a practical part, hikes all over the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

EFRI Sport also organizes the EFRI International Sports Day every year in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The last, 4th EFRI International Sports Day was held in Platak on May 21, 2022.

Every year, EFRI Sport members participate in various sporting events and races, such as the Rijeka International Regatta in Marine Rowing, B2B Run, Homo si teć, Wings for Life World Run, Fiumanka Student Regatta, etc.
